The Amaryllis belladonna jumbo bulb is a premium, extra-large flowering bulb known for producing strong stems and spectacular, oversized blooms. Because of its larger size, the bulb stores more energy, resulting in multiple flower stalks and bigger, longer-lasting flowers compared to regular bulbs. Each bulb typically produces 2–3 sturdy stalks, with 4–6 trumpet-shaped flowers per stalk blooms in bright thick colors.

Best Time to Plant

• October to January is ideal in most parts of India
• Can also be planted any time if grown in pots and protected from heavy rain

Choosing the Right Pot / Location

• Pot size: 8–10 inches wide, with good drainage holes
• Garden bed: Well-drained soil, partial to full sunlight
• Jumbo bulbs prefer slightly tight space (don’t over-pot)

Soil Mix (Very Important)

• 40% garden soil
• 30% cocopeat or compost
• 20% sand
• 10% vermicompost

How to Plant the Jumbo Bulb

1. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing up
2. Plant so that 1/3 to 1/2 of the bulb remains above the soil
3. Press soil gently—do not bury the bulb fully
4. Water lightly after planting

Watering

• Water once after planting
• Then water only when the topsoil dries
• Overwatering causes bulb rot

Sunlight

• Needs bright sunlight or light shade
• Minimum 4–6 hours of sunlight daily

Flowering & Care

• Shoots appear in 2–4 weeks
• Flowers bloom in 6–8 weeks
• Support tall flower stalks if needed.
• After flowering, do not cut leaves they help the bulb store energy

Fertilizer

• Once leaves appear, feed every 15 days
• Use liquid compost, vermiwash, or a balanced NPK (low nitrogen)

After Flowering Care

• Cut only the flower stalk, not leaves
• Continue watering and feeding until leaves turn yellow naturally
• Allow bulb to rest before the next season
